When I was eight years old and writing stories at my third-grade desk during free time, I used to practice my “About the Author” blurb on the back of the sheet of notebook paper where I had written THE END. Back then, I talked about how long I’d been writing (even when it had only been a few months), my family, my hometown, and my pets. Now, at 24 years old, my blurb will be about the same. I grew up in the small town of Sanger, Texas about an hour outside of Dallas with my parents and two younger brothers. I now live in Decatur, Texas with my wonderful husband Jacob and our three cats: Shadow, Arty, and Prissy. My next major goal in life is to be the proud owner of a dog. I attended the University of Houston and received my bachelor’s degree in creative writing in December of 2019. I’m a major horror movie/book fan, and my favorite writers include Stephen King and Edgar Allan Poe. YA novels still move me to tears, and the Fudge series by Judy Blume will always be my go-to books. I’m also a big lover of Raymond Carver stories and game shows, which are unrelated but both important. Most important is my God, because without Him I wouldn’t have these people, these loves, these passions and accomplishments. I’ve been incredibly blessed by Him, and everything I do is made possible by who He is. Much has happened in these 24 years, and I know it’s only the beginning. Thank you for being a part of it; eight-year-old me is incredibly grateful.
